Yuba City: A Tale of One City
Documentary Proposal
Nestled in California’s fertile valley, Yuba City is home to one of the largest Sikh and Punjabi communities in the U.S.—a diaspora that has thrived for over a century. Here, Punjabi and American cultures blend seamlessly, reflecting the true spirit of America: unity through shared values of hard work, respect, and community.
Each year, nearly 300,000 Sikhs gather for the Yuba City Nagar Keertan festival, offering free food to all and celebrating diversity. In a time when division often dominates, Yuba City stands as a model of harmony and inclusion.
We are producing a feature-length documentary capturing this powerful story—filmed through the life cycle of farming as a metaphor for growth and resilience. Set for completion in 2025, the film will premiere on PBS and major streaming platforms.
Join us in sharing this untold story of America at its best.
