SIMRAN
Simran is your average high school Indian girl with strict Asian parents. One day her best friend Carly is invited to a Halloween party and after convincing her mom, Simran is able to go as well. Things take a dark turn however when she must face the unfortunate aftermath of a sexual assault.

A Punjabi immigrant woman stuck in an abusive arranged marriage finally musters the strength to escape when she realizes that her estranged son’s life is in danger. Mother and son quickly learn, however, that life is not necessarily easier on the streets. But through perseverance and ingenuity–and a little bit of luck–they eventually arrange for the promise of a better future.

Mona, a failed writer, carves out a life of isolation while caring for her ailing Sikh father but when he has a debilitating stroke her three successful siblings show up on her doorstep determined to take control of the situation.
An exhausted author single-handedly balances writing a novel, with 24/7 caregiving for her terminally ill parent all while her older siblings offer only misguided opinions, a complete lack of understanding and zero actual help. An exceptional tale of how allowing others’ chosen beliefs to interfere can rob oneself of living a full and joy filled life. Completely relatable no matter what tribe you are, which religion you believe in or where you live. They share the tragedy of daily life experiences, when a relative is terminal and everybody’s “busy” lives are interrupted by death of the patriarch.
