Pen-Tacular
Rajinder Parsad Singh Tattal
The 2017 calendar is the first year published as the Sikhlens Calendar. It features Pen-Tacular artist Rajinder Parsad Singh Tattal, a freelance artist from East London who works in graphite and charcoal. He captures vivid detail in black and white pencil.
He had a Sikh superhero comic strip, Rajman, published in a UK national newspaper at 15. He graduated in Product Design, then spent 12 years not drawing. In 2012 he started again and became a full-time artist. His Sikh work is made with his mother, Shkinder Kaur, who suggests subjects.
He has shown at City Hall London's Vaisakhi event, and in Canada and Paris. He draws inspiration from Guru Gobind Singh: "He has the heart of a saint and the body of a warrior and I've always aspired to be like that."
