The Anglo Sikh Virtual Museum
Gurinder Singh Mann
The 2025 Sikhlens Calendar is presented by the Sikh Museum Initiative: The Anglo Sikh Virtual Museum, with Gurinder Singh Mann. He holds an MA in South Asian Religions from De Montfort University, Leicester (2001), and has written four books on Sikh history, including The Granth of Guru Gobind Singh (Oxford University Press, 2015), The British and the Sikhs, and The Rise of the Sikh Soldier (2022).
Mann set up the Sikh Museum Initiative to research Sikh relics and artefacts in the UK. Working with developer Taranjit Singh, the team built the Anglo Sikh Virtual Museum using 3D modelling and augmented reality. It has been cited among the top ten online museums. In 2023 they installed the UK's first 3D Sikh interactive exhibit at the Royal Armouries in Leeds.
He has worked with the Royal Armouries, the Royal Collection, and the Victoria and Albert Museum. In 2017 he curated Anglo Sikh Wars: Battles, Treaties and Relics, the first major UK exhibition on those wars. He also project-coordinated the Sikh Troops War Memorial in Leicester (2022). Objects in this calendar can be seen at anglosikhmuseum.com.
